Trio Katara
Trio Katara
is a group formed by Panayiotis Diamantis, Kostis Kostakis and Sotiris
Letsios. Three guitars and three voices give the trio a feel of old urban music
taking their audience back to the '30s '40s and '50s in Athens, while utilizing at
the same time harmonies and musical colors from other genres. Rebetiko songs mix
with folk music from the islands and songs from rural Greece in order to create
a rich musical experience for their audience. Their primary goal is to revive
these old songs but also create new ones compining the old and contemporary
compositional forms. The trio was born in 2014 in Athens and their name is a
worldplay inspired by one of their favorite groups called "Trio Kitara", an old Athenian
trio which is one of their main inspirations.
